Choose the right time for your Poonhill trek in 2024,2025.

Weather is one of the crucial factors in determining the time and destination of the trek. As the Poon Hill trek is a short and easy trek at a low altitude, it is possible to complete this trek throughout the year.

Although the trek can be done throughout the year, spring and autumn are the two best seasons to complete this trek.

Trek to Poon Hill in Spring (March to May)
Spring is one of the ideal times for Poon Hill trekking. During the spring season, the route to Poonhill showcases nature at its best.

The climate is mild, and the rainfall is relatively low, allowing for a relaxing and enjoyable trekking experience. The trail is decorated with vibrant rhododendron flowers in full bloom, creating a colorful landscape.

The clear skies further offer spectacular panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks, and the overall environment is clean and refreshing.

Trek to Poon Hill in Autumn (September to November)
Autumn is another ideal time to embark on the Poon Hill trek. The weather is stable, with clear skies and moderate temperatures during this season as well.

The mountain ranges are beautifully visible, and the landscapes are decorated with colorful hues as the vegetation turns into shades of red, orange, and yellow.

It's a perfect time to capture the clear mountain views and enjoy the trek in an ideal environment. However, keep in mind that it is a peak trekking season, and trails can be crowded.

Trek to Poon Hill in Summer/Monsoon (June to August)
While the monsoon season brings rain and increased humidity in the region, it also offers a unique experience for trekkers. The lush greenery along the trekking route is at its peak during this time, with great flora and fauna.

The trail is relatively less crowded, allowing for a quieter and more private trekking experience. However, you should be prepared for rain, muddy trails, and the possibility of landslides in some areas during this season.

As it is not a high-altitude trek, this can be one of the suitable times to complete the trek with proper preparations.

Trek to Poon Hill in Winter (December to February)
Winter usually is not an ideal time for trekking in the mountain regions of Nepal as it brings colder temperatures and snowfall.

While the weather can be chilly, the trekking trails are less crowded, providing a serene experience during this time. The snow-covered landscapes create a mystical atmosphere, and the panoramic mountain views are breathtaking.

However, It is crucial to pack appropriate warm clothing and be prepared for cold temperatures and possible trail blockages due to snow if you are trekking in winter.

Foods you can have on the Poon Hill trekking route.

The food during the Poon Hill trek is nice and adjustable compared to other treks. As the trek is not much on the high altitude, you can get various options on the menu.

The menu generally includes traditional Nepali foods that consist of traditional bread, eggs, potatoes, and soup for breakfast, while lunch and dinner items include Dal Bhat (lentil soup, rice, and veggies), fried rice, noodles, etc., depending on the lodge and destination.

You can also find some Western and Asian foods like; pizza, dumplings, pancakes, sandwiches, burgers, etc. Along with the variety of foods, all the lodges along the route offer a range of drinks from alcoholic to non-alcoholic. You can also carry your own snacks for the trek, such as chocolate and energy bars.

Drinking water facilities in the route to Poon Hill

Thus, it is recommended to either purchase bottled mineral water available in some places or use water purifying techniques. The most sustainable option is to carry water-purifying bottles or tablets. These can purify water from local sources, making it safe for drinking.

By taking these precautions, you can stay hydrated and maintain good health during your Poon Hill trekking adventure.

Similar to the food availability, the accommodation facility during the trek is a lot better than on other high-altitude treks.
