Every nationality requires a visa to enter Nepal except for Indians. It is possible to get Visa on arrival at the Tribhuvan international airport, and you can extend your visa at the central immigration office afterward.
Visa for Nepal can be acquired only through payment of cash in the following currency: Euro, Swiss Franc, Pound Sterling, US Dollar, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Hong Kong Dollar, Singapore Dollar, and Japanese Yen.
For an on-arrival visa, you need to have the following documents;
A valid passport with at least six months of validity remaining.
A completed visa application form is available at the airport or online.
Recent passport-sized photographs (usually two).
Visa fee payment in cash. The fee varies depending on the duration of stay and is subject to change.
Whereas for some countries like; Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, and Afghanistan, etc, there is no on-arrival visa. If you are from these countries, you may have to contact your local Nepalese embassy to issue the visa.
For Indian Nationals
Indian nationals do not need a visa to enter Nepal. Indian citizens are allowed to enter Nepal without a visa and stay as long as they wish for any purpose, including tourism, business, or employment. To enter Nepal, Indian citizens need to have a valid Indian passport or any valid government-issued identification document with a photograph.
Tourist Visa fees
- Multiple 15 Days Entry Visa: USD 30 or equivalent convertible currency
- Multiple 30 Days Entry Visa: USD 50 or equivalent convertible currency
- Multiple 90 Days Entry Visa: USD 125 or equivalent convertible currency
If you are a citizen of China and the SAARC countries, then you will receive a free visa for 30 days.
Visa Extensions
If you wish to extend your stay in Nepal above the initial visa duration, you can apply for a visa extension at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or the Immigration Office in Pokhara. You will need to provide a valid reason for the extension, and additional fees may apply.
